James Slater, originally from Bradford, started making music videos in Liverpool in the early noughties for local artists such as The Coral, The Zutons & Ladytron. Originally part of a film collective called Goodtimes, James developed an offbeat highly creative directing style and employed it in videos for the likes of TheGo!team & The Kaiser Chiefs and commercials for Ford and Converse.

James eventually moved to Berlin and began directing work under his own steam for the likes of Qtip, Norah Jones, Twin Atlantic & Smart Car whilst collaborating with an array of artists and performers which led to him exhibiting video art at the famous Neues National Gallery in Potsdamer Platz.

SINCE RETURNING TO THE UK, JAMES HAS RECEIVED MANY ACCOLADES FOR HIS WORK IN MUSIC VIDEOS, HIS JAMIE T VIDEO ‘ZOMBIE’ WON "VIDEO OF THE YEAR” AT THE NME AWARDS, HIS VIDEO FOR JAX JONES 'BREATHE’ WAS NOMINATED FOR A BRIT AWARD AND HE CONTINUES TO CREATE VIDEO WORK WITH THE UK’S MOST EXCITING MUSIC TALENT.

He is currently based in London, working on a feature length documentary.
