Among the narrow streets of contemporary Naples, 'Hide and Seek' ('Nascondino') follows four years in the life of nine-year-old Entoni and his grandmother Dora during a critical state crackdown on crime that threatens Entoni's future with forced removal and imprisonment.

TRAILER

NASCONDINO is a surreal journey into the visions, dreams and nightmares of 12-year-old Entoni, a wayward Neapolitan street kid, and his grandmother Dora, a recently repented ex-Camorra boss, as Entoni lives his final days of freedom before the state intervenes to take him away from his family.

The film stands in response to a critical rise in youth violence, the recent law passed in Italy that is set to rehouse all children from families in organised crime and an increased appetite of the media to glamourise Neapolitan organised crime.

The world of the inner-city Naples neighbourhood of the Spanish Quarters is very much an invisible universe that cannot be filmed due to the business that is carried out here. However, thanks to unparalleled access and acceptance of the families of the area, we shall recreate this world using the very people who live it.

The film is the result of over a year of conversations and in-depth interviews with the people of the neighbourhood, re-enacting past memories, describing their world as they personally see it, and exploring those dreams and recurring nightmares that keep them awake at night and lead them to ultimately take decisions. This style of filmmaking allows us to explore the subconscious and mythological mind of Naples.
